I am an average student from an average family. My dad had diabetes and kidney failure ever since I was young. As he had to go through frequent dialysis, it was impossible for my parents to support me to further my studies. My dream to be a forensic accountant seemed like it was never going to come true.
As I was only an average student, applying for scholarship had never crossed my mind. Thankfully I got to know about the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation Community Scholarship coordinated by Malaysian CARE through someone close to me. At first I doubted my chances, pondering upon my SPM results. Finally, I gathered my courage and sent in my application.
I received a call from Malaysian CARE and attended a mock interview session held by them. During the interview, Malaysian CARE made sure that I was well prepared for my Interview with Sunway by understanding my background and the course I wanted to take. With that first step, I am able to be where I am today.
When I first stepped into Sunway College, it felt so surreal. Never had it crossed my mind that I would be able to study here. I started with the CAT and graduated as an ACCA Affiliate in the year of 2020. With this wonderful opportunity given to me, I was on the right track in achieving my dreams! Despite all the ups and downs, I made it through and fast forward to today, I am now an experienced auditor in one of the Big 4 auditing firms in the world!
Studying at Sunway gave me the opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds, cultures, and countries. It has helped me to see the possible in the impossible. Do not be discouraged by your current situation, but be courageous and go after your dreams!
