    About the position

    • The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys facilitating and building bridges, with a background in events management or pastoral studies and has great coordination as well as administrative skills. Prior involvement in Christian networks is definitely a plus. 

    • The role of the Church Relations Leader is to build relationships among churches and connect them to the work of Malaysian CARE in meaningful ways. 

    • Additionally, the Church Relations Leader develops communication mechanisms and provides opportunities for churches to be involved in community development projects to address specific program and community needs within their vicinity.

    Responsibilities

    Church Engagement

    • To build relationships with churches, church-networks and church leaders to raise prayer, financial giving, influence for Malaysian CARE and promote opportunities for the church to be involved in social concern.

    • To undertake, organise, plan and coordinate speaking engagements at churches and conferences, including festivals for young people, across Malaysia (physical and virtual).\

    • Identify/resource for appropriate church contacts with relevant materials, maintaining church deputation records to accurately reflect relationship status/follow up.  

    • Ensure deputation packages used by staff is up to date, consistently used across CARE and has clear call-to-actions.  

    Capacity Building

    • To organise for trainings and other initiatives that will raise up next generation speakers and promote consistency in message delivery.

    • Journey, share resources and strategies to PC KK and PC Miri and work collaboratively where necessary. 

    • To be a part of and work in collaboration with the Spiritual Empowerment team to promote integral mission amongst staff and incorporate material into church deputation package where possible.\

    • Manage and coordinate the Thursday Intercession and Friday Devotion scheduling. 

    Partnerships 

    • To work in collaboration with the Community Development teams to understand and promote opportunities for partnerships to churches in Malaysia.

    • Research, identify and initiate ways to involve churches post engagement. 

    Prayer & Advocacy 

    • To develop and promote advocacy campaigns to live out Christian faith with boldness and humility, and to expand and deepen our partnerships with churches and faith leaders to identify and address the causes of poverty and vulnerability.

    • Promote church prayer partner strategies for matters that affect the poor and needy. 


    Desired Skills/Experience/Attributes

    • A genuine passion for the poor and needy - ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds. Enthusiastic and positive attitude toward helping others.

    • Good organizational skills - Experience in managing and supporting groups of people to address community needs through service projects is a plus.

    • Able to work independently and on a team.

    • People person - ability to build relationships and work with staff, volunteers and churches. 

    • Experience in planning and implementing events/campaigns.

    • Strong language and communication skills (written and oral) in English and Chinese. 

    • Computer skills is a must – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Photo Shop will be a plus.


    Educational Requirements

    A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from any field of study.
