    About the position

    • The candidate is expected to uphold the standards of integrity and Christian conduct consistent with organization values.

    • This person is expected to assist in leading the men prison ministry. He is expected to assist in planning and strategizing the work in the men prison together with the different stakeholders.

    Responsibilities

    • To help in Initiating and implementing programmes for in-prison (men) as well as community-based projects for identified communities of prisoners and ex-prisoners, drug users, and people living with HIV/AIDS.

    • Assist Manager in partnership with local churches to address wholistic needs of the communities in the following areas:

      a) Economic Empowerment

      b) Social Empowerment

      c) Child Empowerment

      d) Spiritual Empowerment

    • Participate in client case management and journey with the client for their identified areas of needs and/or empowerments.

    • To organise and/or conduct awareness and training programmes on community development among churches and other relevant organization and agencies.

    • Liaise and network with grassroots level field workers, external resource persons in the community, churches, Government Organisations, and Non-Government Organisations for successful implementation of service activities.

    Required Skills and Experience

    • Passion to serve the poor and needy especially for people from diverse backgrounds especially people come from prison, drugs AIDS background.

    • Enthusiastic and positive attitude toward helping others.

    • Possess a warmth and approachable persona, to be able to connect and interact with people.

    • Strong IT literacy (eg. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email, etc).

    • Willing to travel and able to travel independently. 

    • Able to work independently under minimal supervision.

    • Flexible and versatile; possessing the ability to wear different “hats” on short notice.

    • Knowledge of principles and practices related to community works are essential.

    • Experience on organizing and participating in community work.

    • Possess an analytical and critical thinking skills.

    • Able to work during the weekends and residential duties.

    • Teachable and transparent with leadership qualities.

    • Punctual, consistent and healthy.

    • Team Player - ability to build strong working relationships and work in collaboration with staff within the department and other departments.

    • Relational – ability to relate to a diverse group of people including staff, management, stakeholders, volunteers and community.

    • Good language and communication skills (written and oral) in English and Bahasa Melayu. Other languages will be a plus.

    • Possess a good time management skill.
