Community development for the urban poor is one of Malaysian CARE’s core areas of services. In every community that we work with, we aim to create the space and resources that would facilitate community engagement and collaboration towards development and empowerment.
Youth Junction is a carved out space in the community for the community youths, intended to be a safe place for continuous learning, sharing, relationship-building and collaboration towards building a better future.
Since the centre’s inception in 2015, Youth Junction has been primarily operating from the basis of being a place of hope for all refugee youths. Moving forward, we hope to use this space to bridge the gap between both refugee and local youths. This not only helps the refugee youths to feel welcomed and accepted but also allows the local youths to practice generosity and empathy.
At this centre, the community youth not only find resources (books, game sets, sports equipment, audio-visuals, computers and internet access) but also various programmes ranging from literacy, educational, interest-based programmes to social and recreational activities.
(Using Youth junction for programmes and events on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays can be explored with partners and volunteers)
Wednesdays 12:00pm – 2:00pm
Thursdays 5:00pm – 7:00 pm
Saturday 3:00pm – 5:00pm
Subject to teacher-student availability
Wednesdays 4:30pm – 7:00pm
We are looking for volunteers who have a heart to serve the youth community. If you are interested, you may be part of our effort to community building through the following ways:
1. Volunteer with us to help run existing programmes alongside CARE.
2. Partner with us to come up with wholesome programmes to empower youths/refugees through equipping them with skills and knowledge.
3. Simply come over for exposure and good fellowship.
We look forward to hearing from you!
